MV21 selection guide · Vertical Peugeot 2T AC

Speedfight.
With its own character.

Start with the right engine. Speedfight 1/2 parts do not automatically fit Speedfight 3/4 or Ludix. Here we build a vertical-engine setup with air cooling.

01

Cooling and engine family

Speedfight 1 or 2. AC.

For the air-cooled version, retain the fan and all cooling shrouds. An LC cylinder does not fit here. The name “Peugeot 50” alone is not enough.

Identify the model and installed engine.

Initial selection: Speedfight 1/2. The 50 cm³ LeoVince TT kit is checked for Speedfight 2; for Speedfight 1, we identify an exhaust separately. Speedfight 3/4, Ludix, TSDI and 4T are not covered by these kits.

02

From the first step to Sport

Choose the scope of your conversion.

Keep the 50 cm³ cylinder or plan 70 cm³ Sport with a suitable exhaust and intake. See price, contents and availability of each part below.

The total includes one of each listed part, excluding installation and tuning. The 70 cm³ Sport selection is a project plan with specific products. If a part cannot be ordered, the guide does not add the entire kit to the cart.

AC or LC cylinder

Malossi 31 7133 includes a head. Actual displacement is 67.8 cm³; “70” is the class name.

Big Valve + CP 19

The Naraku block already includes reed valves. CP 19 connects with a Ø25 mm adapter; check position and lubrication on the scooter.

Peugeot variator

Multivar 51 8752 uses 16×13 mm rollers. A Piaggio 19×15.5 mm set does not fit here.

03

From idea to parts

Your setup, part by part.

70 cm³ Sport with a 19 mm carburettor and open sports filter. Choose add-ons and mark only the exact parts you already have.

Intake and air filter selection

The Naraku Big Valve intake block already includes the reeds. No separate reed valve block is needed.

Drivetrain add-ons

Multivar is already included. The roller set of 9 g and the white contra spring are included with the variator; add extra rollers if different tuning is needed.

Spark plug

Before selecting the kit

Check the crankshaft, bearings, oil seals and cooling before installation. If there is play or wear, address it first. This selection does not confirm the condition of your existing engine.

This guide’s 70 cm³ Sport project is intended for a closed track. Physical part compatibility does not mean the entire conversion is approved for road use. Even a 50 cm³ exhaust requires checking the exact vehicle type approval and installation conditions.

04

Peugeot drivetrain

Match the entire CVT.

Variator, rollers, clutch and belt work together. Standard transmission dimensions are retained here.

01

Multivar 51 8752

Peugeot version. Manufacturer specifies 9 g rollers and a white contra spring in the kit. This is a tuning starting point, not a ready-made setting for every exhaust.

02

16×13 mm

Roller size for the selected variator. Extra 4.8 and 6.0 g sets are tuning options. The weight in LeoVince’s instructions for the original variator does not automatically apply to Multivar.

03

Fly Clutch · 107 mm

Malossi 52 8797 is listed in the Peugeot model catalogue. Check the bell’s inner diameter and condition. A working existing clutch does not necessarily need replacing.

04

Peugeot belt

Malossi 6112735 is selected for the standard Speedfight 1/2 drivetrain. Belt wear and width affect CVT behaviour. An Over Range kit needs separate selection.

In what order should I tune it?

First engine and carburettor operation, then belt and variator condition. Match roller weight and springs to the engine’s operating range. Small clutch springs determine engagement; spring colours across brands are not a common stiffness standard.

05

CDI, ignition and spark plug

Electronics follow the engine.

70 cm³ Sport alone does not require sports ignition. First check the existing system and whether it has a limitation that interferes with the project.

CDI

The connector is not the whole answer

For Speedfight versions, check the stator, CDI / coil type, wiring diagram and immobiliser. We do not automatically add one “Peugeot CDI” for all years.

SPORTS IGNITION

Keep the functions you need

For an inner rotor, check taper, mounting, timing and lighting supply. Fan drive also matters on an AC engine. An unverified universal kit is not included in this selection.

The plug follows the installed head.

ORIGINAL 50 cm³ HEAD

According to the model’s manual

Check the exact engine requirements, thread reach, heat range and resistor. The old plug’s marking alone is not proof of compatibility.

70 · AC

Denso IWF24

Sport plug specified in the Malossi 31 7133 instructions. Short 12.7 mm reach. Can be added to this AC kit after checking ignition requirements.

Tuning is part of the setup

What not to overlook.

Installing parts is the beginning. Recheck the settings after changing the cylinder, intake or exhaust.

Sports filter: what changes?

An open filter is a valid option. It must fit the carburettor connection and clear the bodywork even when the engine and suspension move. Adjust the fuel mixture after changing it. Louder intake noise alone is not measured additional power.

In this selection, Polini 203.0097 is paired with CP 201.1901 (Ø46 mm). For the airbox option, we use the different CP 201.1902 (Ø34 mm). Plan regular maintenance and protection from direct water spray for the sports filter.

Which jet and rollers are right?

There is no single universal number for this kit. It depends on the exhaust, filter, engine condition and conditions of use. Choose jets made for your CP carburettor series; follow the manufacturer’s tuning instructions and avoid an excessively lean mixture.

The rollers supplied with the variator are a starting point. Match roller weight and springs to the engine’s operating range without making several unverified changes at once.

Does 70 cm³ immediately require a different crankshaft?

You cannot decide from “70 cc” on the box alone. The specific cylinder, revs, piston pin, stroke and existing crankshaft condition matter. This selection uses the standard vertical Peugeot engine with a 12 mm pin and 39.1 mm stroke. For the LC cylinder, also check crankcase fitment and head compatibility.

If wear or previous modifications are unknown, inspect the engine first. For a racing kit, plan the crankshaft, bearings and ignition together with the cylinder.

What else is not included in the parts total?

Installation and tuning, required jets, a spark plug unless selected separately, coolant for liquid-cooled engines and other materials. Check the throttle cable end and free play, choke cable routing, oil and vacuum connections on the scooter itself.

When fitting the CVT, follow the variator instructions, including the specified spacers. Add oil seals, bearings and a crankshaft after inspecting their condition. Do not neglect the brakes and tyres needed for riding.

Can I keep the oil pump?

Check this against the cylinder manufacturer’s instructions and the existing system’s condition. An oil connection on the carburettor alone does not confirm sufficient pump delivery for the conversion. We do not give one mixture ratio for all engines.

How was the parts selection checked?

We compared model fitment using the store’s internal parts finder and Malossi, Naraku, Polini, LeoVince and Yasuni catalogues. Carburettor, manifold and filter connections were compared by size. This is a parts selection with installation conditions, not a complete engine tested on a dyno.

We do not mix parts for vertical and horizontal Peugeot engines. The 50 cm³ TT 4058 kit is confirmed here for Speedfight 2. Yasuni R and the LC head were unavailable to order when checked, so their availability limits purchase of the 70 cm³ plan.
